ROCK US
About Rock the Cure
Our history
For the past 8 years, Rock The Cure has been dedicated to
the fight against breast cancer. Through our annual concert
events, merchandise sales and third party fund raisers, we
have proudly donated over
$100,000
in Minnesota. We cannot thank enough our generous sponsors
who cover our event costs so that 100% of the money we raise
at our events will be donated directly to our charities.
A new direction: Women’s cancers
When we started, the power of the pink ribbon to raise
breast cancer awareness was relatively new. Now, through the
efforts of many people worldwide, awareness has been raised
to the point of amazing saturation...M&M's, sports teams,
yogurt lids. Now pink belongs to breast cancer, and the
awareness it has brought has meant wonderful changes in the
fields of prevention, education, research and treatment.
But it occurred to us that perhaps there are other diseases -
equally
challenging and potentially life-threatening diseases such as cervical and
ovarian cancer - that Rock The Cure can help move to the
forefront of awareness and education. And now, we are taking
our foundation an exciting new direction:
Rock The Cure - Banding together to fight
women's cancers
A new local charity
As part of our new direction, this year we welcome the
MN
Ovarian Cancer Alliance and the
Women’s Cancer Research Program at the Masonic Cancer
Center, University of Minnesota
to our family of local charities. They join
the
Susan G.
Komen Twin Cities Race For The Cure and
Open Arms MN as
the recipients of 100% of the money we raise through our
events. Our hope for our 2010 event is big: to double the
amount of money we donated last year. But just as important
as the monetary goal is to increase awareness. That’s why we
have added a second ribbon color to our guitar logo – the
teal ribbon, which is the symbol of ovarian cancer.
Blue Jeanne, Inc.
Blue Jeanne, Inc. is a tax exempt, nonprofit corporation established in 2005. Our mission statement is to eradicate women's cancers, specifically but not limited to breast cancer, through fund raising efforts, then distribute these funds to organizations that provide for treatment, education and prevention of cancers.
Our fund raisers are music-themed events, celebrations of the strength of women who have fought and continue to fight cancer. Inspired by a friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer, we will continue to organize our efforts in search of a cure, to fund as many Twin Cities breast cancer charities as possible, and work to raise awareness and money to fight this fight.
Since 2005, Blue Jeanne, Inc. proudly donated over $72,000 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Twin Cities and Chicagoland affiliates.
